Snow and Cold Arriving Late

Michael with good vis today - we thought it was going to snow!
SNOW REPORT FOR NEXT FEW DAYS

The snow and colder temperatures that were forecast for today will continue to arrive very slowly - quite a bit later than originally forecast. Today the clouds formed a very level ceiling at abut 2900 m with some clear bits all day long in the Haute Tarentais region of Savoie where I decided to do some touring today; it looked like the Italian side of the Massif de Mont Blanc had the same conditions - see photos that I've posted below.

FORECAST
Some snow tonight and and tomorrow.

More snow is forecast for the end of the day tomorrow and tomorrow night into Sunday in the Northern French Alps. Totals of 20-40cm is forecast (more near the Italian boarder due to a 'retour d'est') for the end of the day Sunday. From Sunday night, the snow is then forecast to continue more near the Italian border through Monday with less snow to the West of the border and some clearing West of the border too.

THE SNOWPACK
Remains very stable with exception of the Glide Cracks 'creepers' that continue their unpredicatble creeping all throughout the Savoie at least on slopes generally East, South & West between 1800 and 2400 metres. Don't hang out under theses things - they don't release often but they do sometimes release without any warning.

Off-piste skiing was nice but the snow was heavier than yesterday - maybe due to the increased humidity
