HAT OFF-PISTE SNOW REPORT FOR 27 January: N French Alps

WEATHER FORECAST: Snow on Friday! This coming weekend and next week is looking variable i.e. sun/clouds and snowshowers through Sunday then drier weather from Monday – VERY COLD from Friday onwards

OFF PISTE SNOW CONDITIONS
The off-piste continues to be really good especially after each ‘freshen-up’ of new snow!

SNOW STABILITY
I continue to be pleasantly surprised by the stability of the snowpack especially with all the snow we’ve had this year.
The only thing I’ve noticed is that the few accidental avalanches that have been triggered in the region (with little consequence thankfully) are in places where people have really been pushing it – steep loaded slopes.
- Creepers (glide cracks) are still releasing at unpredictable times – so don’t hang out under them.
I will be updating our blog as much as possible especially if conditions start to look unstable (or if I have some nice photos from a great ski!) on www.henrysavalanchetalk.com/blog

TIP OF THE WEEK
Keep thinking!
The skiing is great & the snow is very stable - stay alert though. Make a safety rule for yourself to help you keep thinking: like chat to knowledgeable local people each time you go out – especially after a snowfall (I try to speak to at least a couple pisteurs each morning during and just after snowfalls)

Have Fun ! Be Safe
