A few cm of new snow today

 There was a few cm's of new snow in most of the Haute Tarentaise area of Savoie today (possibly in  most of N. Fr Alps, but that is not confirmed to us yet): 5-10 colllected in leeward gullies and areas prtected by the wind). Not the quantities forecast (at least I didn't find more than that in the border area of Val d'Isère where there was supposed to be the most snowfalls last night).

Let's hope we get a bit more from the snowfalls forecast for Monday night into Tues - as the rest of the week looks like mostly clear and very, very cold!

Snowpack remains pretty stable. keep an eye on weak layer developing as a result of the cold this week - especially in the thin wind scoured areas that resulted from the huge winds in the last storms (see image below of the Grand Orsai/exit above gorge in Col Pers domain). Weak layer development due to cold this week will mainly be an issue for the next snowfalls after the cold - let me know if you observe otherwise!!
